What are the Different Parasite Symptoms?

The term parasite is used to define any living organism that lives off another living organism. The description seems simple enough, but there is nothing simple about how these organisms interfere with your bodily functions, destroy your tissues and release toxins into your bloodstream.

Parasites are classified according to whether they live inside or outside your body, and those that live inside your body are sub-classified according to whether they live in your tissues, digestive tract, or any other organ. These organisms enter your body through various means and if your body’s immune system fails to fight it off in the early stages then your health may soon suffer from it.

Among the most common parasite symptoms are constipation, diarrhea and irritable bowel syndrome. Parasites that thrive inside your gastrointestinal tract tend to obstruct the bile duct because of their size and shape, thus causing constipation. Diarrhea occurs when a protozoa parasite interferes with sodium and chloride levels in your body. When parasites latch onto your intestines, they can make it difficult for your body to absorb nutrients from the food you eat. This can make it difficult for you to pass bowel and result directly to irritable bowel syndrome.

Even bloating and excess gas are sometimes associated with parasitic infection because these are results of the irritation of the upper part of your small intestines. Anemia or severe iron deficiency is also considered among possible parasite symptoms due to the fact that parasites that live on the intestine’s mucosa often drain your body of essential nutrients.

There are several other, less obvious parasite symptoms. These include rashes, hives, chronic fatigue, sudden weight loss and a decrease in the ability to concentrate. Of course, manifesting any of these symptoms does not necessarily mean that you are infested with parasites. The safest way to know for sure is to consult your doctor promptly in order to identify the specific cause of and proper treatment for your symptoms.
